Internship Spotlight: PwC

Devashish Sahay

MS/IM student Devashish Sahay discusses his summer internship at PwC. After he graduates this month, he will return to PwC as a technology consultant.

What is your research focus at the iSchool?

My research focus at the iSchool is information consulting and analytics.

Where did you intern, and what was your role?

I did an internship with PwC over the summer as a technology consultant in the advisory division for Cybersecurity Risk and Privacy.

How did you find out about the internship?

I learned about the internship through the Engineering Career Fair during the Fall 2018 recruitment season.

What new skills did you acquire during your time with the company?

During my internship, I had an opportunity to work with the C suite of the client organization, making strategy for the robustness of their IT environment. I also learned about tools to analyze threat intelligence and vulnerability management.

What did you like best about working at the company?

The best thing about the company was its focus on digital upskilling. Multiple instructor-led and online trainings were available throughout the internship. Also, PwC focuses a lot on "Be Well and Work Well" initiatives to make the employees energetic and enthusiastic.

What would you advise current students who are interested in an internship opportunity?

My advice to current students is to reach out to as many people as they can in their field of interest through LinkedIn and the U of I Research Park and talk about their aspirations and any opportunities available in their respective organizations.
