Five from iSchool to speak at Charleston Conference

iSchool faculty, staff, and students will participate in the 2018 Charleston Conference, which will be held November 7-9 in Charleston, South Carolina. The conference is an annual gathering that draws librarians, publishers, vendors, and others to discuss issues relating to the acquisition of books and serials. 

Tuesday, November 6

Affiliate Professor Lisa Hinchliffe will participate in the preconference roundtable discussion, "All about the User Experience: Researcher Perspectives on Access, Privacy, and Security in Scholarly Communications."

Associate Professor Maria Bonn will present at the preconference workshop, "Let a Thousand Flowers Bloom: Planting Local Open Educational Resources that Will Spring up across the Field."

Wednesday, November 7

Associate Professor Maria Bonn will participate in the discussion, “Bringing New Scholarly Communication Libraries into Bloom.”

Affiliate Professor Lisa Hinchliffe will serve on the panel, "Meeting Customers & Users Where They Are," as well as participate in the discussions, "A Joint Roadmap for Open Science/Scholarly Tools: Collaborating to Support Open Infrastructure" and "The Scholarly Kitchen Live - Chat with the Chefs."

Master’s students Jenny Bruxvoort and Paige Dhyne will present their paper, "Discovering the Library and the Librarian in Science Textbooks: Representations and Implications," coauthored with Affiliate Professor Lisa Hinchliffe. literacy, and scientific method. 

Thursday, November 8

Research Scientist Megan Senseney will participate in the discussion, "Standing Together before We Fall Apart: Solving the Content as Data Problem."

Affiliate Professor Lisa Hinchliffe will participate in the discussion, "ATG Trend Talk."

Members of Associate Professor Dong Wang's research group, the Social Sensing and Intelligence Lab, will present their research at the Web Conference 2024, which will be held from May 13-17 in Singapore. The Web Conference is the premier venue to present and discuss progress in research, development, standards, and applications of topics related to the Web.

iSchool researchers to present at CHI 2024

iSchool faculty and students will present their research at the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI 2024), which will be held from May 11-16 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The conference, considered the most prestigious in the field of Human-Computer Interaction, attracts researchers and practitioners from around the globe. The theme for CHI 2024 is "Surfing the World."

iSchool researchers present at inaugural ASIS&T symposium

iSchool researchers will present their work at the Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T) Midwest Chapter Spring Symposium on April 26. The inaugural symposium will include talks by seventeen researchers from ten institutions across the Midwest region.
