Five from GSLIS to speak at IDCC

GSLIS staff and students will participate in the upcoming 11th International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC), to be held on February 22-25 in Amsterdam. IDCC is organized annually by the UK-based Digital Curation Centre. The theme of the 2016 conference is, “Visible Data, Invisible Infrastructure.”  

GSLIS presentations include:

“Simulation Data of Cold Front-Related Hydrodynamics of Wax Lake Delta, LA,” a paper by GSLIS Postdoctoral Research Associate Qian Zhang and presented by Heidi Imker of the University of Illinois Library (other coauthors are Chunyan Li of the Department of Oceanography and Coastal, School of the Coast and Environment, Louisiana State University; CIRSS Senior Project Coordinator Megan Senseney (MS '08); and GSLIS Bertram Ludäscher)

“Process Models for Curating Research Objects: Three Case Studies,” a paper by GSLIS doctoral student Andrea K. Thomer and Nic Weber (PhD '15) of the University of Washington iSchool

“Formalizing an Attribution Framework for Scientific Data/Software Products & Collections,” a paper by GSLIS master’s student Chung-Yi Hou and Matthew Mayernik of the National Center for Atmospheric Research Library

Spectrum Scholar Spotlight: Alyssa Brown

Seventeen iSchool master's students have been named 2023-2024 Spectrum Scholars by the American Library Association (ALA) Office for Diversity, Literacy, and Outreach Services. This "Spectrum Scholar Spotlight" series highlights the School's scholars. MSLIS student Alyssa Brown earned her BA in environmental studies from Middlebury College.

iSchool researchers to present at CHI 2024

iSchool faculty and students will present their research at the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI 2024), which will be held from May 11-16 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The conference, considered the most prestigious in the field of Human-Computer Interaction, attracts researchers and practitioners from around the globe. The theme for CHI 2024 is "Surfing the World."

Mullally to deliver iSchool Convocation address

Alumna M. Katherine (Katy) Mullally (MSLIS '04) will deliver the 2024 iSchool Convocation address. The event will be held on Sunday, May 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the Activities and Recreation Center. The ceremony will be broadcast live online so that students, families, and friends can watch if they are unable to attend in person.
